This is Dianna & Larry just dropping a line to say hello! I hope this email finds you both doing well! We are so grateful to have found you to teach us Ballroom lessons. People are still complimenting us on our first dance! Thanks to you, we AMAZED our guests with our dance, and we were so happy to have you two there to celebrate with us that day! (We hope we made you proud) We set out to only learn moves for our first dance, but we gained a passion for Ballrooming, and dance skills we will hold for a lifetime. Words cannot begin to express our gratitude. Simply put, it was our honor to have such talented and patient teachers.

However, we will be needing some refreshers every now and then! So don't forget about us!!!

Welcome to the ANOTHER LEVEL OF DANCE web site. Here you can see our schedules and other information that will help you become a fabulous dancer. In the real world beyond this web site, we offer Graystone Ballroom, Detroit Style Ballroom, Bop and Chicago Step dance lessons in the Detroit Metropolitan area.

Our specialty is well-taught Beginners to Advance classes; far more carefully and systematically taught all while having fun. We are dedicated to good teaching as well as good dancing so that you become a skillful dancer.

What styles do we teach? Our Ballroom is the Detroit Ballroom and Graystone Ballroom. Style in which you are dancing for the pleasure of dancing, rather than the competition-focused dance sport style. Our Bop is authentic 6-count similar to your Swing. Our Steppin is Chicago style high Steppin and original.

Community Sponsored Program: Ballroom Dance for Schools

Another Level of Dance, LLC has a special opportunity to offer public school age children the opportunity to participate in a worthwhile health and educational “Ballroom Dance for Schools” sponsored program. The “Ballroom Dance for Schools” program benefits our children and young teens in all aspects – physically, academically, emotionally and spiritually. Our program is for during or after-school, up to 16 - 20 children per session.The program will be 45 minutes long, once a week for 6 weeks. The program will end with a special presentation from our youth.

Shall We Dance

LEAD and FOLLOW
Lead is all about communication and it becomes a conversation of the physical between two dancers.

Good lead is an art form that requires sensitivity. A good leader is sensitive to the partner's level of dance. As a leader you must make your intentions clear by committing to the movement and following through to the end. There is no room for mixed messages, which my be confusing to the follower and lead to awkward moments. A clear understanding of the movement is necessary so that it can be communicated easily and on time to the follower.

The follower has an equally important role, which is to follow. This, in essence, means that the follower has to be sensitive, aware and respond using good tone in the arms. The follower should not anticipate the movement but wait to be lead. Staying connected to your partner at all times is critical in order to obtain good lead and follow.

RHYTHM
In all forms of dance, rhythm is 'key' whether it is International or Club Style Ballroom dancing which includes Graystone Ballroom, Detroit Bop and Ballroo

Rhythm distinguishes the dances and gives them their unique personalities. Staying 'on the beat' or on rhythm allows for better partnering and the ability to progress to more interesting and intricate movements. In essence, keeping good rhythm is 'key' without it dancing becomes labored and a chore especially for the person following. Dancing will then become a wrestling match, pushing and pulling each other around the dance floor.

INTRODUCTION
Dancing is the most artistic of social pastimes. In all societies dancing forms an integral part of the lifestyle. Dancing is not only a reflection of life but is a basic human expression of life itself. While the initial motivation to dance is often a social one, once you have past the hurdle of actually learning to dance, many find in the music, the atmosphere and the dance, the opportunity to take on a new persona. In an instant, the dancer can be mentally and emotionally transported to almost any scenario of their choosing – an elegant Graystone ballroom dancer at a dinner dance, a Detroit club style ballroom dancer, bopper or Club Latin dancer at a popular night spot. The music and venue create the atmosphere but you will express your own individuality through the language of dance in which you were taught.

Angela began Detroit Style Ballroom dancing in 1983. She is one of the founding member of Upscale Dance Productions which formed in 1997. She has been instructing Social Ballroom Dance Styles over 10 years and has competed in several competitions. She taught all levels from beginning to advance for all ages. She specializes in Graystone Ballroom, Detroit Ballroom, Bop and Latin. Her passion for dance will keep you 'on your toes'!

Darrell began ballroom dancing in 2000, he trained under Kevin Collins of Premiere Dance Productions where he studied Ballroom and Bop. He has become very efficient in technique and theory of these dances. He also began learning Chicago Step under several steppin organizations in Detroit and became an assistant instructor with a local dance organization in 2003. He has continued his learning experience under Donnie Davis in Chicago to become more efficient in technieque and theory of this dance.

Angela and Darrell met in October 2003. After dancing together socially, they became dance partners. They started working together on the Detroit Bop & Ballroom, Graystone Ballroom and Chicago Step.

Since that time, they have performed in two local dance productions plays "Ballroom Charlie" and "Dancin' In the City". Angela and Darrell's chemistry and passion, both on and off the dance floor, makes them one of the most exciting dance performers in Detroit. They have also competed in several local competitions as well as Chicago's World's Largest Steppers Competition.

Angela and Darrell, are currently teaching Club Style Ballroom Dance Lessons which includes: Graystone Ballroom, Detroit Ballroom, Bop and Chicago Step and are some of the Detroit's top dancers.
